Overview

If your goal is to pursue a career as a professional commercial airline pilot and effectively manage a multi-crew environment, the Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot) program is tailored to meet your aspirations. This degree equips you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience to fulfill the requirements for obtaining a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Command Instrument Rating (CIR), preparing you for a career as a commercial pilot.

The Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot) program includes a Test of English for Aviation Preparation course as part of its curriculum.

This program is designed to train you for a successful career as a commercial pilot. Throughout the course, you will acquire the aeronautical expertise and practical experience essential for obtaining a Commercial Pilot License, Multi-Engine endorsement, and Command Instrument Rating.

In the initial term of study, you will delve into topics such as the aviation industry landscape, flight fundamentals, and aviation safety to lay the groundwork for your flight training. Subsequently, in the second term, you will commence your flight training alongside coursework focused on Commercial Pilot License (CPL) theory.

Moving into the second year, you will advance your flight training and CPL theory studies, supplemented by more in-depth courses covering human factors and safety.

In your third year, you will finalize your flight training, achieving both a Commercial Pilot License and Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage with a 737NG simulator and undertake a culminating Aviation Project. This project enables you to demonstrate your proficiency and analytical capabilities by presenting a research project on an approved aviation-related topic.

Career Outcomes

When you graduate with the Bachelor of Aviation (Commercial Pilot) you will meet the aeronautical knowledge and experience requirements for careers as a commercial pilot in the air transportation industry. You would normally be legally qualified to work as a commercial pilot and have access to aviation careers in the air transportation industry, or a cadetship/ traineeship offered by some airlines. With additional flight training, you can explore opportunities in general aviation such as; flight instructing, tourism operations and agricultural operations such as mustering and crop spraying.

Academic

Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent; or completion of AQF Certificate IV or equivalent; or completion of an approved university foundation studies program.

Entry Requirement

IELTS Academic: 6.0 with no individual band score of less than 5.5

TOEFL Internet-based: Overall score of 75 with no score less than 17

Pearson Test of English Academic: Overall score of 54 with no score less than 46

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) / Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - Overall test score of 169 (with no individual band score of less than 162).
