Deakin’s Master of Information Technology provides a combination of leading-edge theory and technical knowledge with hands-on practical experience. It will prepare you for a successful career as an IT professional in Australia and around the world.

Course Structure

To complete the Master of Information Technology, you will attain 8, 12, or 16 credit points, depending on your prior experience.

The course is structured in four tiers:

  • Foundation Information Technology Studies (4 credit points)
  • Fundamental Information Technology Studies (4 credit points)
  • Mastery Information Technology Studies (4 credit points)
  • Specialist Information Technology Studies (4 credit points)

Depending upon prior qualifications and/or experience, you may receive credit for the Foundation and Fundamental Information Technology Studies.

The four tiers comprise the following:

  • Eleven (11) core units
  • One (1) level 7 SIT elective (one credit point)#
  • One 4-credit point specialisation OR four (4) level 7 SIT electives (four credit points)#
  • Completion of STP050 Academic Integrity (0-credit point compulsory unit)

Career Outcomes

As a Master of Information Technology graduate, you may find employment as a business analyst, network administrator, database administrator, security analyst, solutions architect, software developer, technology consultant, or security systems manager.
