Bachelor of Psychological Science
Central Queensland University
Bruce Highway NORTH ROCKHAMPTON Queensland 4701
Overview
Delve into the realm of human cognition and behavior, and acquire the expertise to enhance the welfare of others through CQUniversity's Bachelor of Psychological Science. This program equips you with a thorough grasp of psychology's fundamental principles, theories, and concepts, along with an exploration of its core research areas. Engage in hands-on learning experiences, culminating in a capstone unit where you can undertake a project or placement, enhancing your readiness for the workforce. Tailor your studies by incorporating complementary disciplines, expanding your professional knowledge to align with your interests and career aspirations.
The overarching objective of this course is to furnish you with a holistic understanding of psychology as a scientific discipline and its practical applications. Aligned with the foundational competencies specified by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) for three-year undergraduate psychology programs, the curriculum immerses you in the principles, theories, and research methodologies of psychology. You'll also delve into various applied and professional contexts of psychology within an ethical and culturally sensitive framework.
Upon successful completion, you'll attain a highly sought-after qualification, recognized universally as a testament to your proficiency in understanding human cognition and behavior, applicable across a spectrum of people-centric professions. However, it's important to note that graduating from this program does not confer the title of 'psychologist'; further study, including an Honours course (fourth year) and an accredited pathway designated by the Psychology Board of Australia, is necessary.
Completion of an accredited three-year psychology sequence qualifies you to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) program at CQUniversity, paving the way for either practitioner registration coursework or advanced research studies in psychology.
Should you opt to discontinue after the first year, you may exit the program with a Diploma in Behavioural Science.
Please be aware: If you already hold a Bachelor's degree and seek to obtain an accredited undergraduate psychology sequence, consider enrolling in the CF59 Bachelor of Science (Psychology) program.
