Study a Master of Occupational Therapy and you will:

  • learn how to work with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they need to, want to, or are expected to perform in
  • work with a variety of people, including those who have an impairment of body structure or function, are restricted in their participation or are socially excluded

Work Integrated Learning (WIL):

WIL is an integral part of this course, giving you an invaluable opportunity to gain practical experience and form strong relationships with industry stakeholders and professionals before graduating.

Over two years, you’ll participate in 1000 hours of practical education in places such as hospitals, health clinics, community organisations, school and aged care facilities both locally or nationally.

Course Structure

Course-specific information:

Prior to undertaking any clinical placement students will be required to:

  • undertake a National Police Check 
  • obtain a Working with Vulnerable People registration 
  • provide your immunisation history 
  • have a qualification in First Aid including CPR.
     

Professional accreditation:

The Master of Occupational Therapy has been granted accreditation by the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia Ltd (OTC) and approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (OTBA). Graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as an occupational therapist with the OTBA. The program is also approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT). Minimum Standards for Entry Level Education.

Career Outcomes

UC Master of Occupational Therapy students will graduate into an industry that is expected to experience enormous and continuous growth as the aging population of Australia, and the rest of the world continues to grow.

As a result, there is expected to be a high demand for those with a master’s in occupational therapy to help guide research and policy practices in a variety of areas including aged care, disability services, paediatric services as well as many other community-based support services.

Once graduated, students can choose to continue with further study, or move into a variety of jobs in a range of public, private and voluntary sectors, including:

  • homes, schools and workplaces
  • health and rehabilitation centres
  • supported accommodation
  • aged care

Academic

A completed bachelor's degree in any discipline with a credit or higher average.

Entry Requirement

To be eligible you must have an overall IELTS Academic score (or equivalent) of 7.0 with no band score less than 7.0

TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 94 with: R: 24; L: 24 S: 23; W: 27

Pearson Test of Academic English: 65 with no skill score below 65

Cambridge English Scale: 185 with no sub-score below 185

Occupational English Test: No grade lowers than 'B' in any of the sub-tests.
