The Graduate Certificate in Journalism (Advanced) is associated with the already established Master of Journalism. The Certificate’s four core compulsory subjects develop your critical and technical skills, while a number of journalism-related electives build on this skill set. Together, these subjects represent integral journalistic skills and understandings, with opportunities to study other advanced subjects.

50 point program (6 months full-time or part-time equivalent)

  • Three Compulsory subjects (50 Points)

Please note: Students commencing this course as part of the Mid-Year Intake can only take this program on a part time basis. The Mid-Year Intake is not available for international students.

Academic

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have completed an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70

Entry Requirement

IELTS (academic English Only): Overall 7.0 (with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill
