Overview

Advanced Diploma of Applied Science caters to students aspiring to pursue a career in the maritime industry, specifically as Marine Engineer Officers aboard commercial vessels. It equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to proficiently oversee, facilitate, and perform operations and maintenance related to shipboard marine engineering systems. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including marine engineering and systems, vessel structure and operations, cargo and passenger transport, vessel management, marine legislation, marine survey, and shipboard safety.

Designed to seamlessly integrate with professional short courses and practical training at sea, the program ensures that graduates not only attain an Advanced Diploma or bachelor's degree but also receive an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) Certificate of Competency. Complying fully with the training and educational standards outlined in the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) of 2010, as amended in Manila in the same year, the program sets students on a comprehensive path towards a successful maritime career.
