Overview

The Master of Philosophy – Education is an internationally recognised masters (by research) degree. It is designed for students to develop advanced skills in carrying out independent and sustained research. The thesis should demonstrate a critical application of specialist knowledge and make an independent contribution to existing scholarship in the area of research.

Masters Thesis

The normal length of a Master of Philosophy – Education thesis is 30,000–40,000 words, exclusive of words in tables, maps bibliographies, and appendices. Footnotes are included as part of the word limit.

Course Structure

Through the Master of Philosophy – Education, you will build the scholarly ability to demonstrate advanced learning in research skills and gain mastery of techniques, such as:

  • Use of archival or primary evidence

You will also gain specialist knowledge in your area of research.

Minimum qualifications Applicants are normally required to have completed at least a four-year honours degree at H2A standard from an Australian university, or a qualification or combination

IELTS (academic English Only): Overall 7.0 (with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill
