Bachelor of Engineering Technology
Central Queensland University
Bruce Highway NORTH ROCKHAMPTON Queensland 4701
Overview
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology offers a range of possibilities, allowing you to specialize in traditional engineering fields or pursue a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer by focusing on the aircraft maintenance (avionics) major. Opting for majors such as civil, electrical, or mechanical will grant you in-depth expertise in engineering principles, alongside proficiency in software, simulation modeling, and the ability to support engineers in technological design and systems management for engineering projects.
This degree program aims to enhance your skills by integrating engineering concepts with contemporary technology. You can select from various major options, enabling you to pursue a career as an Engineering Technologist in conventional engineering fields or as an aircraft maintenance engineer.
Should you decide on the civil, electrical, or mechanical majors, your education will equip you to creatively apply, modify, and adapt engineering practices to address challenges and issues affecting communities, society, and the environment. Customize your studies by choosing from a diverse range of streams that align with your interests and career objectives. Refer to the majors and minors section below for detailed information on the streams offered within each major.
The curriculum integrates exciting technologies and emphasizes a project-based approach. You'll experience hands-on learning opportunities and can opt for on-campus study in a non-traditional format or pursue online learning.
Engagement with practicing engineers, involvement in industry-sponsored projects, and access to industry-based scholarships provided by top Australian companies are integral parts of the program. Additionally, a nine-week industry placement during the course enables you to apply your skills and enhance your employability through practical experience.
For those interested in the aircraft maintenance (avionics) major, our partnership with Aviation Australia offers an accelerated pathway to attaining Licence Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) status in three years, a process typically requiring five years. During the first two years of the program, you'll cover all competencies outlined in the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Aviation Australia Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionics or Mechanical), along with foundational professional engineering knowledge. Initial studies will be conducted on-campus at Aviation Australia's Brisbane campus for 1.5 years, followed by the option to complete the remainder of the course either online or on-campus at Bundaberg, Cairns, Gladstone, Mackay, or Rockhampton. Upon completing the first 1.5 years, students will receive the EASA-approved Aviation Australia Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionics or Mechanical).
