Bachelor of Nursing
University of New England
University of New England ARMIDALE New South Wales 2351
Overview
The Bachelor of Nursing (BN) is offered On Campus and Online, Full-time or Part-time.
Students who successfully complete 6 trimesters of full-time study (or part-time equivalent) graduate with a BN and are eligible to apply to become a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). RN's play a key role in health services across the world in a variety of settings. Graduates of the BN have the necessary knowledge and skills of an RN, an appreciation of the value of life-long learning, and a firm foundation for further study at a postgraduate level.
Applicants who have an unrestricted Enrolled Nurse registration with the NMBA apply under Admission Rule (b) or Rule (e)* and can complete in four trimesters of full-time study.
The BN also offers admission pathways for International Students under Rules (c) and (d).
All students are required to undertake professional experience placements and must meet additional mandatory requirements prior to this. Students should not enrol in the course if they cannot meet these requirements. Students should commence these requirements prior to commencing the course. Failure to complete vaccinations or provide evidence of adequate seroconversion will result in the inability to complete clinical placement.
The BN requires mandatory attendance at on campus intensive schools or weekly sessions and participation in online supervised assessments by all students enrolled in either on campus or online study modes. Domestic students commencing in Trimester 1 only may reside on campus at Armidale or online.
Note: International Students admitted under Rule (c) will have an On Campus intake in Trimesters 2 and 3 at Armidale or UNE Sydney (Parramatta). As quotas apply at each campus you may not be offered your campus of choice. International Students admitted under Rule (d) will be able to study On Campus at Armidale only, commencing in Trimester 3. The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) has set an upper limit of one (1) trimester as the length of time that students can study online outside Australia. This is in accordance with the Registered Nurse Accreditation Standards 2012 and 2019. Students cannot undertake any professional experience placement units while outside Australia.
