Bachelor of Science (Psychology)

Central Queensland University

Australia

Bruce Highway NORTH ROCKHAMPTON Queensland 4701

Overview

If you've obtained a degree in another field and aspire to pursue a career in psychology, the Bachelor of Science (Psychology) could be the right fit for you. This program offers a pathway for further academic study or entry into various professional domains.

The primary objective of this program is to provide a comprehensive understanding of psychology as a scientific discipline and its practical applications. Aligned with the foundational competencies outlined by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) for three-year undergraduate psychology programs, the curriculum covers fundamental principles, theories, and research methodologies. It aims to equip students with knowledge across core research domains and familiarize them with ethical and culturally sensitive practices in psychology.

Upon completion, graduates possess a highly valued qualification, indicating proficiency in understanding human cognition and behavior applicable to diverse people-oriented professions. However, it's important to note that this qualification does not confer the title of 'psychologist', which requires further academic pursuits such as an Honours course (fourth year) and completion of an accredited pathway designated by the Psychology Board of Australia.

Successful completion of this accredited three-year psychology program renders graduates eligible to apply for entry into the competitive Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) (CC42) at CQUniversity. Honours-level studies in psychology pave the way for either conditional registration as a psychologist in Australia or further research-oriented academic endeavors.

Please note that this program is tailored for individuals holding a bachelor's degree seeking to fulfill the requirements for an accredited three-year psychology sequence. If you lack a prior degree, enrollment in the Bachelor of Psychological Science (CC43) is necessary.
