Our Graduate Certificate of Petroleum Engineering will build on your existing engineering knowledge and experience in another discipline to help you enter this exciting industry

What will you do?

Completed over 6 months full-time, the degree features an engaging blend of face-to-face tuition and practical problem solving.

The program is developed and taught by world-class, industry-trained and research-active academics through our Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources (ASPER)—Australia’s only school of its kind, and the leading centre for integrated petroleum research and education throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The wide-ranging and internationally informed curriculum draws on ASPER’s strong collaborations with industry and other leading universities around the world, delivering you:

  • basic knowledge of petroleum engineering principles
  • fundamental skills in evaluating, selecting and using appropriate, environmentally responsible methods and techniques in drilling, reservoir and production engineering
  • skills in solving petroleum engineering problems
  • specialised petroleum engineering technical and creative capabilities
  • effective interpersonal communication skills.

Interaction with ASPER’s world-recognised staff and guest industry presenters will also help you develop valuable connections and real-world insight.

Where could it take you?

You’ll graduate ready to enter the upstream petroleum industry in Australia or anywhere else in the world. You may also choose to continue your studies with our Graduate Diploma of Petroleum Engineering.

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.0 in a discipline other than petroleum engineering

IELTS: Overall 6.5 (Reading 6, Listening 6, Speaking 6, Writing 6); TOEFL: Internet-based: Total score of 79 with a minimum of 21 in Writing, 18 in Speaking and 13 in Reading and Listening; TOEFL Paper-based: Total score of 577 with a minimum of 4.5 in the Test of Written English (TWE); Pearsons: Overall 58 (Reading 50, Listening 50, Speaking 50, Writing 50); Cambridge: Overall 176 (Reading 169, Listening 169, Speaking 169, Writing 169).
