Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Built Environments (Advanced) allows you to develop skills by creating an individualised course of study. With the approval of the Course Coordinator, you can select subjects from across the broad range of disciplines offered by the Melbourne School of Design.
The flexibility this course offers is of great benefit to students who:
- do not wish to specialise in one particular area
- are not yet certain where their interests and career aspirations lie
- possess a relevant existing qualification and wish to enhance their qualifications through advanced studies in areas of their choice.

Course Structure
All students must complete 100 credit points of graduate-level subjects, of which 75 points must be fourth-year level or above.
- Should undergraduate subjects be included they must be taken from the later years of the undergraduate course, and would normally be taken as background studies to specialisations within the course.

- enhance your existing qualifications
- help you shift towards the disciplines represented within the MSD
- create a path to further academic studies.

Academic
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have an undergraduate degree in any discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent).
Entry Requirement
IELTS (academic English Only): 6.5 (no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 + ; Writing 21; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 58 + no communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 176 + no skill below 169.
