Throughout your studies, you'll benefit from personalized instrumental tuition delivered by highly skilled regional conservatorium staff, accessible either through online video tuition or on-campus sessions at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM), located at CQU Mackay.

The curriculum of this captivating course covers fundamental aspects of music language, spanning from Western art music traditions to contemporary popular music styles. You'll explore the contributions of notable performers, composers, lyricists, and music producers to the evolution of these genres. Your initial term will focus on practical music studies, concentrating on foundational repertoire and technical exercises tailored to your chosen instrument, voice, or composition. Subsequently, in the second term, you'll deepen your knowledge and refine your technical abilities through a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on learning experiences.

Admission to this program requires an audition, with candidates recommended to possess at least an intermediate level of proficiency in their instrument, voice, or composition. 

The Diploma of Music is offered online and is supported by CQU's Regional Conservatorium partnerships with institutions such as the Murray Conservatorium (Albury), Riverina Conservatorium (Wagga Wagga), Mitchell Conservatorium (Bathurst, Lachlan, Lithgow), and the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at CQU Mackay.

Academic

Completion of Australian Year 12 or equivalent; or completion of AQF Certificate IV or equivalent.

Entry Requirement

For the IELTS Academic test, a minimum overall score of 5.5 is required, with no individual band score lower than 5.0.

For the TOEFL Internet-based test, an overall score of at least 65 is necessary, with no section scoring below 15.

In the Pearson Test of English Academic, an overall score of 46 or higher is needed, with no individual score less than 42.
