What will you do?
Taught over two years full-time within a faculty ranked 40 in the world for computer science and engineering*, the degree leverages the University’s strong industry links and world-class research.
In addition to gaining a broad understanding of the foundations of the construction industry and associated project management—you’ll develop skills in using:
- new and emerging technology, including digital building-information modelling tools and automation technologies (Industry 4.0)
- civil engineering principles and technology, in real-world construction contexts
- construction project and people management, including legal requirements
- systems thinking, building science, economics and sustainability principles
- critical thinking.
This degree is hosted by the School of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and will prepare you well for a future career in which you’ll frequently work alongside professionals in these areas.

Course Structure
To qualify for the Associate Degree in Construction Management, students must complete satisfactorily a program of study consisting of the following courses with a combined total of not less than 48 units, comprising:
- Level I courses to a maximum of 24 units
- Level II courses to a maximum of 24 units
- Core courses to a maximum of 48 units.

A graduate of the Associate Degree program in Construction Management is equipped with skills in socially and environmentally sustainable construction technologies, project management, civil construction and engineering construction management.
Utilising a broad skill set that blends construction management and technology, you might find yourself:
- overseeing and managing large-scale construction and infrastructure projects
- consulting with engineers, architects and technical trades workers
- coordinating labour, equipment and plant resources, as well as overseeing and managing contracts for work
- interpreting technical drawings and specifications for new infrastructure, as well as designing and managing sustainable building practices
Developed and delivered in collaboration with industry, our curriculum has a strong emphasis on real-world experience, integrating learning with hands-on experience – enabling you to gain employment in industry after graduation.
There is also flexibility to move between the Associate Degree (2 year), the Bachelor Degree (3 year) and the Honours Degree (4-year duration). Our programs offer an innovative blend of industry relevant knowledge and skills – ensuring you’ll graduate ready to thrive in your chosen career.
